NYC in the early spring: No. 17 Grove St, February 25
On warmer days this early springtime in New York City, I ventured out to paint townhouses and restaurants and the general hustle-bustle of the city. All of these paintings were made en plein air, meaning I painted them from life, sitting outside and looking at the scene as I worked. This townhouse is one of the oldest wood houses in Manhattan and once had a tunnel to the speakeasy Chumley’s at 86 Bedford St. A charming addition to the street!
