A swimmer on le Quatorze (Bastille Day), no. 1, Cassis, July 14
Bonjour from France!! This summer I was an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School in Aix-en-Provence for six weeks, spending my days painting en plein air.
This watercolor was painted on a beautiful afternoon in Cassis as I watched the swimmers quickly go by. I love how the body glimmers under the water and wanted to capture it in watercolor, so I made several small paintings one after the other of the swimmers in the water before me. A truly difficult task, as no one stays in one place for long in the water!! The fast sketches in watercolor are always so fun for me, and I returned to this idea time and again.
Original watercolor painting framed in navy lacquer frame in floating glass (no mat; glass on glass). Size approx 9” x 11” framed.
Shipping (USPS First Class) is free in the continental United States.
Merci!!!
