Part of the Virginia Wildlife release, these herons are a favorite of mine to paint. Growing up near the water in Virginia, these birds were a common, if elusive, presence. Though called Great Blue Herons, their colors reach far beyond “just” blue, which I think is perhaps what draws me to them time and again.

This painting was painted as a pair; sold separately but they look great when facing if you’re needing to fill a large space! Shown here with “Waterbird, no. 6.”
