Red pebbles and a view of Théoule, by Cannes, July 31
Bonjour from France!! This summer I was an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School in Aix-en-Provence for six weeks, spending my days painting en plein air. After the residency was over, I still painted a bit while traveling; this piece is one of a few that I made while spending a few days on the Côte d'Azur.
About 20 minutes west of Cannes there is a lovely red pebble beach with a beautiful view of Théoule-sur-Mer. I saw the coastline while in the train on the way to Cannes and decided to backtrack once I was setting out for a painting session; I arrived a little before sunset and was able to sit by the calm water and make this piece while families gathered together at the end of the day. Dreamy!
Original oil painting on canvas, framed in a natural wood floating frame. Size approx 12” x 15” framed.
