Jumping into the choppy sea at Sarakiniko Beach, Milos, Greece, August 9
Yassas from Greece!! This summer I was an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School in Aix-en-Provence for six weeks, spending my days painting en plein air. After the residency was over, I still painted a bit while traveling; this piece is one of a few that I made while spending a week on the Greek isle of Milos. Sarakiniko Beach is made up of these incredible rock formations and magnificent heights where daredevils jumped in the cool sea (I jumped too! But from a lower spot!).
I climbed up a bit out of the way so I could see all of the people lined up to jump in; loved the stark contrast in the very light rock and the shadows and sea below, plus the congestion of people at the edges. We returned several times to this beach; another painting from the same spot is here and a third painting from elsewhere on the beach is listed here.
Original oil painting on canvas, framed in a natural wood floating frame. Size approx 12” x 15” framed.
Shipping (USPS First Class) is free in the continental United States.
Merci!!!
